Corian Countertop is available in three different types of thickness i.e. 6mm, 12mm, and 19mm respectively. If one wants thicker size adhesives could be used to join 2 pieces of the material and then polishing is done to create a seamless finish.
In many cases only the sides have to appear to be thicker, in such case, the material is cut to the required thickness and fixed to the sides of the counter as per design. The polishing is further done to give a joint-free look.
Is Corian heat resistant?
Corian is a strong and homogeneous material that is resistant to heat till a temperature of 100 degrees centigrade. However, tripods should be used to keep hot pots as they should not be kept directly on the Corian countertop. Direct flames like frames from the match stick can damage the solid surface.
However, if the surface gets damaged the material is very easy to repair and restore to its original shine and texture by giving a seamless joint-free finish.
