WEST FARGO — Once again, West Fargo homeowners north of Interstate 94 will be eligible for low-interest loans to assist with home improvements after the city of West Fargo agreed to partner with Gate City Bank for its annual neighborhood revitalization program.
Gate City Bank and the city of West Fargo have provided the loan program since 2019. The program offers low-interest loans of $10,000 to $100,000 for improvements on homes with assessed values of less than $275,000.
Last year, the program helped fund 12 projects within West Fargo, totaling $412,130 in improvements to residential properties. Gate City Bank has pledged up to $1 million in loan funds.
“Generally, we’ve seen increasing interest over the years,” City Planner Aaron Nelson said.
To be eligible for the program, the home must be located within West Fargo, be north of Interstate 94 and have an assessed value of less than $275,000.
Eligible projects include energy improvements, code compliance, foundation/structural improvements, building additions and general property upgrades, although that does not include appliance upgrades.
“This program focuses on reinvesting in West Fargo’s older neighborhoods, a key goal of the West Fargo 2.0 Comprehensive Plan,” Nelson said. “Aside from staff time spent reviewing applications and doing construction-related inspections, there is no financial costs to the city of West Fargo.”
For more information or to apply, contact the West Fargo Planning and Zoning Department at 701-515-5370.
“I hope the public continues to utilize it,” Mayor Bernie Dardis said.
The loan program will be available through Oct. 31.
